Operating principle:
The Opal 460 is a fully hydraulic, water-cooled hot embedding press for embedding polished samples.
In hot embedding, the sample is embedded in an embedding press under temperature and pressure with a plastic granulate.
The advantages of the process are the high hardness of the embedding media (e.g., glass fiber reinforced) and the good gap-free embedding.
Hot embedding media are available based on epoxy resin, acrylic resin, phenol resin, and graphite resin.

Main application area:
Embedding the samples for better sample preparation for further metallographic examinations.
