2.1 Description of the short-circuit-protected rotary switch system
This rotary indexing table system operates in an automatic cycle sequence.
The base unit is a robust cast construction housing the main drive motor and the central cam drive. Standard OKUMAT station units, preferably, are mounted to its exterior surfaces. Their low-maintenance guides ensure high repeatability during continuous operation.
The assembly system's cycle rate is continuously adjustable via a frequency converter. In the event of an impermissible load increase (e.g., due to a blockage), the frequency converter immediately shuts off the main drive motor. This prevents overloading of the assembly system. A soft-start feature ensures gentle startup, protecting material from damage.
All working movements of the assembly system are centrally driven and always operate synchronously with each other. The main movements of the individual stations and the switching motion of the rotary indexing table are mechanically controlled by hardened cams. Auxiliary movements—such as opening and closing grippers—are pneumatically actuated and likewise centrally controlled.
Compressed air supply and installation of valve islands with fieldbus connection are integrated above the stations within the plant’s safety system.
The assembly system is designed for continuous operation.
